Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State Chairman Emmanuel Ogidi has lamented the lack of progress in Isoko land, claiming that no town in Isoko can boast of electricity despite the exploitation of oil and gas resources.
Ogidi noted that despite Uzere village in Isoko North LGA being the second village in Nigeria where oil was discovered, the region still lacked any sort of manufacturing infrastructure.
At an awards ceremony honoring outstanding individuals in the Oleh community in the Isoko South Local Government Area, he voiced his concerns.
Ogidi bemoaned that the Isoko nation is full of “Pull Him Down” syndrome, PHD., people who oppose progress in the region.
He pointed out that the Isoko people have wasted time attacking their own authorities, despite the fact that those in charge have failed to inspire the populace.
He expressed regret that the Isokos were not represented in government bodies such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
I’m not going to say the leaders have done a fantastic job.
But he asked the Isoko people to quit pulling their own, especially leaders and mentors, and instead to come together in love to advance their nation.
