The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, came under fire from the Benue Youth Forum (BYF) on Monday for his remark on the recent massacre by Fulani herdsmen in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to BYF, Atiku defecated on the graves of those slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen in the state’s Ukum Local Government Area.
The Forum’s president, Terrence Kuanum, charged Atiku of defending the Fulani herders’ deaths in the region.
He criticized Atiku for saying that the horrible deeds were the result of “continuous confrontations between farmers and herders.”
Kuanum voiced displeasure at the in a statement.
Unlucky statement attributed to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in which he just defecated on the remains of several persons who had lately been slain by Fulani herdsmen in Benue state’s Ukum Local Government Area.
Added him:
The PDP presidential candidate’s description of the heinous death of young people, women, and the elderly as they slept as a “intensification of intercommunal violence” raises questions about his degree of sensitivity and involvement in the ongoing attacks on Benue villages.
The assertion made by Alhaji Atiku that the murders in Benue State were brought on by a lack of inclusion and integration of individuals into the communities where they live, work, pay taxes, and raise their children is equally tragic and irresponsible.
Atiku was charged of harboring animosity for Samuel Ortom, the state governor, by the Forum’s president.
Added him:
It is not surprising that Alhaji Atiku, who has not hidden his hatred for Governor Samuel Ortom for his (Ortom’s) tenacity in preventing the Benue people from ceding their lands to cattle breeders, has never really been sincere in condemning the situation, especially given that his kinsmen are known to be responsible for the killings, maimings, destruction of property, and eviction of innocent villagers from their communities.
If elected, the former vice president is tasked by the Forum with outlining his plan to stop the massacre of residents of Benue State.
He advised Atiku to disregard support from the state if he fails to provide his strategies for stopping these deaths there.
BYF emphasized once again the necessity to deprive Atiku of the title of “Zege Mule u Tiv” leader.
