The outgoing governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, said he has forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari for the shortcomings of his administration.

Ortom, who spoke while featuring on Arise Television on Wednesday, said though the President took Nigerians from top to bottom, there was no need to hold it against him.

He said the President does not need to relocate to the Republic of Niger after handing over to the incoming President, Bola Tinubu, on May 29.

According to the governor, Buhari needs to remain in the country to work with the incoming administration for the betterment of the nation.

He said: “I have forgiven President Muhammadu Buhari. He has taken us from top to bottom. We have suffered for eight years, but that doesn’t mean we should hold it against him.

“He doesn’t need to go to Niger. He should stay here and work with the incoming administration to move Nigeria from the bottom to the top.”

Buhari had said he would relocate to Niger if, after May 29, he didn’t feel safe in his home town of Daura in Katsina State.
