Umar Abba becomes the next Commissioner of Police for Osun

The new Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, who was assigned to the Osun State Command, has returned to work.

The command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, revealed this in a statement on Friday.

Opalola reported that on Friday, February 16, 2024, CP Umar Abba returned to work.

She revealed that the recent elevation of Bzigu Kwazhi, the previous commissioner of police, to the position of assistant inspector general of police was the reason behind CP Umar Abba’s posting to the state.

CP Umar Abba “was born on June 22, 1965, in Tundun Wada local government area of Kano State,” according to the statement.

The Commissioner of Police completed his one-year NYSC at the Old Anambra Police Command and holds a B.A. in mass communication from Bayero University in Kano State.

In May 1992, he was appointed as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP) in the Nigeria Police Force.

“CP Mohammed Umar Abba has served in a variety of roles across the nation’s states.”

According to the announcement, Umar Abba served as the Sectional Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Counter Terrorism and General Investigation Section at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja from 2016 to 2016.

“Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC – Director of Operations – 2017-2020.”

In addition, from July 2020 to March 2021, he served as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) acting executive chairman.

In addition, “He is happily married with wonderful children,” the message disclosed.
