Following his exclusion from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad, Terem Moffi expressed his disappointment to OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli.
Among the 25 players selected by head coach Jose Peseiro last week, Moffi was noticeably missing.
Peseiro selected four forwards—Umar Sadiq, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, and Victor Boniface—for the tournament.
Moffi, according to Farioli, is now focused on playing for the club despite being disappointed by his exclusion.
That the forward is remaining with the club is something the coach is pleased about, he added.
When asked about Moffi’s decision to skip the Africa Cup of Nations, I cannot make up my mind. While Farioli acknowledged that Terem Moffi had a strong desire to represent his nation, loved ones, and friends, he also expressed regret.
On the flip side, we are overjoyed to have him on board because he was our top recruit for January.
In training, he had an optimistic outlook, wanted to perform well, and was willing to put himself out there for the team. He appears to be highly motivated and laser-focused.
