Posted by An ugly brawl broke out between two lawyers at the Customary Court in Obukpa town, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State.
Both parties and the court staff were confused by the lawyers’ behavior.
Others attorneys and court officials rushed to restore order, though it was unclear what had sparked the argument.
On Thursday, DAILY POST got a viral video showing two lawyers yelling and lifting chairs.
The two attorneys, whose identities will remain anonymous, are locals.
At one point during the heated exchange, one of the attorneys was overheard remarking, “He is a very small youngster… He’s completely out of his mind.
“Touch me again,” the other attorney warned.
Someone touched you. “Take a look at this crazy guy,” the first attorney exclaimed.
After a while, he got up and started to leave the courtroom.
“Haha, you. You look like an idiot after bleaching your skin. The second attorney shouted to his receding colleague, “You have bleached yourself like a woman.”
After DAILY POST contacted Barr Ferdinand Ugochukwu Ukwueze, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Nsukka branch, he said the attorneys’ behavior was shameful.
The establishment is investigating the cause of the patron’s careless behavior.
To which I replied, “We are looking into it really,” he stated.
Ukwueze confirmed the existence of punishments when asked about them.
It doesn’t reflect the noble character for which we are recognized, he said.
Our disciplinary board will take action after we’ve identified the national bar as the source of the problem.
