Special Assistant on Public Communication for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Phrank Shaibu has accused President Bola Tinubu of trying to prevent the release of information about an alleged criminal investigation into him by American authorities.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, he leveled the charge.
Earlier this week, attorneys for Bola A. Tinubu in the United States filed motions to appear in a freedom of information action filed against the FBI and the CIA, which house records that may shed light on Tinubu’s true identity and decades-long endeavors.
The motion was submitted on October 18, 2023, by Christopher Carmichael, one of the lawyers who defended Tinubu in the recent Chicago State University (CSU) records case, claiming that he was a lawyer in good standing to appear in the FOIA action currently pending in Washington, D.C.
Atiku’s adviser responded by saying Tinubu’s attempts to cover up his history were unfitting for a leader of 200 million people.
When asked if Bola A. Tinubu was his true name, he stated, “I think it is time for all Nigerians to express serious concern about this man.”
Former Lagos State Chief of Staff Rafiu Tinubu and other members of his family have denied knowing him. Some of the places he applied to rejected him, so he’s staying mum about where he went to elementary and senior school and whether or not his father is alive.
He would not divulge the specifics of the deal he made with American officials throughout the course of their investigation into his drug trafficking activities. The truth about an inquiry is about to be revealed, but he’s already working to stop it.
The drug probe that began against him in 1992 was a tax concern, according to his surrogates led by Mr. Festus Keyamo, who declared as much during the electioneering. If that’s the case, then why is he so reluctant to allow the FBI to make the records public?
Since most Nigerian courts have blocked all attempts to unveil Bola A. Tinubu, Atiku’s adviser urged US officials to regard themselves as the final chance of Nigerians.
He continued, “Tinubu’s secrecy about his past has allowed him to fool Nigerians.” Unfortunately, the courts in Nigeria have thwarted every effort by well-intentioned citizens to expose him. The government in Lagos State, which he has dominated for decades, has consistently ignored Freedom of Information Act demands.
The people of Nigeria are placing their faith on the United States government to take the necessary steps to provide them with access to reliable information about the leader of their country. We urge American authorities not to give in to pressure and block the release of the materials.
According to Shaibu, former Lagos State Head of Service Rafiu Tinubu wrote a book about his family’s dynasty called “Onijumu Wura: The Tinubu Dynasty of Kakawa” in 2007.
Unfortunately, all the copies of that book were magically snatched up soon after its release. No one has been able to track down a copy of the book as of yet.
“It is the duty of the president of Nigeria to disclose his or her record to the people of Nigeria. Unfortunately, every time an opening presents itself for Nigerians to get a good look at him, Tinubu does his best to sabotage it.
We all remember how President Tinubu threatened him with irreparable harm when it looked like his Chicago State University transcripts were about to be made public.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has decided to reveal records on Bola A. Tinubu’s time in the United States, and Tinubu is once again engaging in stalling tactics.
A country of over 200 million people is embarrassed every time Bola A. Tinubu comes around to frustrate a revelation about him, he said. “Bola A. Tinubu must behave like a statesman and be decent enough to know that,” he added.
