Gov Adeleke seizes contested chunk of property in Orolu-Irepodun communal confrontation

The state government has seized the plot of land in dispute between Orolu and Irepodun local governments, according to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The obviously irritated governor further stated that he has obtained the support of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in order to deploy military forces to ensure law and order in both areas.

Adeleke stated this at the maiden edition of the Ipade Imole, a public accountability platform, held on Thursday in Osogbo.

“I’m not feeling well today.” These disputes would deter investors.

“As a government, we have seized the disputed parcel of land.” The Osun State Government has seized that land, and I have directed security personnel to deal with anyone who violates my directive.

“In this regard, I have also obtained the assurance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.”

“He has promised to send soldiers to the affected communities to assist the Nigerian Police.”

“Anyone who wants to cause mayhem, I want them to be careful right now.” It will not work if it is tampered with.

“These clashes benefit no one and drive investors away to other states.”

“It is sad that lives are being lost daily over what belongs to God and not man.”

The governor ordered the chiefs, community leaders, and kings to summon their followers.

“People will not be satisfied unless the government intervenes with force.”

“A military deployment will be punitive to both communities who have failed to allow for peaceful resolution of the problem on ground.”
