Gov. Umo Eno’s credentials are verified by WAEC and UNIUYO

In testimony before the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal, a senior legal officer of the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), Adekanmbi Olaolu, stated that Governor Umo Eno took the 1981 and 1983 exams at the WAEC’s Ikeja Center and that his name appears on the WAEC result listings.

Governor Umo Eno graduated from the University of Uyo, but not with the registration number that the plaintiff had provided, according to the Director of Academic Affairs of the university, Dr. Ime Akpabio.

Remember that in his petition, Senator Bassey Albert, the YPP’s candidate for governor of Akwa Ibom State in the 2023 elections, claimed that Umo Eno had never received an authentic WAEC certificate, had never attended school, and was not a true graduate of the University of Uyo.

The University of Uyo administration was subpoenaed by the Tribunal in response to Bassey Albert’s request over the accusations of credential fraud made against Pastor Eno.

The bogus result certificate with the number 98UG017806 did not come from the University of Uyo, according to Dr. Akpabio, who testified as a subpoenaed witness at the Tribunal in Uyo on Friday. He also revealed that the aforementioned registration number belonged to Ugoji Chinenye, who was enrolled to study Communication Arts and whose name is on the certificate.

Akpabio added that after more than 24 years of employment at the university, he was able to identify forgeries in Senator Akpan’s supplied signature and other pieces of supporting documentation.

Dr. Ime Akpabio stated, “Everything here is wrong,” in reference to the letter of expulsion that the institution allegedly issued against Pastor Umo Eno. This paper was not produced by the University of Uyo.

However, Dr. Success Akpabio informed the court, “No, we don’t have any Administrative Officer 1 known as Daniel Akpan.” The paper submitted by the OBA’s legal counsel is signed by a Daniel J. Akpan who is allegedly an Administrative Officer 1.

Dr. Akpabio replied, “As a former Head of Records before becoming the Director of Academic Affairs, we have only one Eno Umo Bassey in the university records,” when asked how many Eno Umo Bassey were found in the University of Uyo archives.

I visited Records. Eno Umo Bassey was screened by me because I was the Senior Assistant Registrar. This was taken out of his file. My signature appears there on the paper.

The second respondent’s attorney, Paul Usoro, SAN, responded to the day’s events by arguing that the testimony of the two witnesses, Dr. Success Akpabio of the University of Uyo and Adekanmbi Olaolu of the West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC, put an end to the petitioner’s claims because it was clear from their testimony that the documents the petitioner had presented were all forgeries.

Speaking as well, Emmanuel Enoidem stated that the hearing has exposed more lies and fabrications contained in the petition submitted by the YPP Governorship candidate against Governor Umo Eno.

Former PDP legal counsel Emmanuel Enoidem responded to the developments by expressing pleasure with how the case turned out.

The University of Uyo and WAEC were called as two witnesses there to confirm or deny the outcome of Umo Eno, and that is exactly what transpired in court.

“Even before we arrived, we were aware that Umo Eno was eligible to run for governor of Akwa Ibom State. These witnesses were just present to attest to and validate the records we already possessed. However, it is even more significant since all of the petitioner’s presented documents have been shown to be fake.
