On Saturday, Bello Matawalle received all of the vehicles that the Zamfara State Police Command had taken from him while he was the state’s previous governor.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, verified the development on Saturday over the phone and stated that the vehicles were returned in accordance with the Federal High Court’s Gusau-based decision.
All security forces that removed the vehicles from Matawalle’s homes in Gusau and Maradun were ordered by the court, presided over by Justice Aminu Bappah-Aliyu, to restore them within 48 hours.
Security personnel removed the vehicles from the former governor’s two homes at the state government’s request.
Abubakar stated, “Yes, the police command has complied with the court order as regards to returning of all vehicles belonging to the former governor, Bello Matawalle.”
He assured that every car had been brought back to the Federal High Court’s grounds in Gusau.
Suleiman Idris, the governor of Zamfara’s spokesperson, had earlier claimed that more than 40 vehicles had been found in the former governor’s two homes.
He stated that the security services followed the state government’s instruction when they executed the move.
