According to Gombe State Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, the government cannot support universities on its own.
Therefore, he recommended that other interested parties, such as parents, assist the schools.
The governor made the remark on Friday, just hours after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) called off its eight-month strike during which the academics sought greater university financing and other issues.
Recall that the academic union went on strike on February 14, 2022, to protest the Federal Government’s failure to follow the Memorandum of Understanding that was negotiated with it in 2009.
