The army has started ‘Exercise Still Water’ in an effort to rid Ondo of kidnappers and robbers

The Nigerian military has taken steps to prevent criminals in Ondo State from having a field day over the Yuletide.

Exercise Still Water was launched as a field training exercise with the promise to root out kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminals from the state.

Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, commander of the 32nd Artillery Brigade in the state, stated at the exercise’s flag-raising in Owo that it will help find more hiding places for criminals.

Col Jibril Garba, the garrison commander, spoke on behalf of Adamu, saying that criminals such as kidnappers, robbers, drug dealers, bandits, and cultists would be dealt with effectively.

He continued by saying that the goal of the exercise was to practice tactical operations and thwart criminal activity as the holiday season approaches.

“All criminal elements operating in the 32 Artillery Brigade area of responsibility should desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.

Adamu urged the state’s traditional elders, other security agencies, and community activists to provide the military with reliable intelligence on security threats.

The “ember months,” he continued, “attract increased criminal activities, so it is necessary to set in motion various avenues to checkmate and stop the rise in criminal activities within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.”
