Osun Job Centre is not an entity that the state government of Osun State claims to have inherited from the administration of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
Another point made by the state government was that, since taking office on November 27, 2022, salaries of public employees had not been withheld.
Allegedly, it closed the Osun Job Centre and didn’t pay employees for a whole year.
Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Kolapo Alimi issued a statement denying the allegations on Monday, which HEALTHYSPOT101 obtained. The statement also disclosed that the center’s employees were contract workers and that the state’s civil servants had been transferred to other ministries.
The Alimi reports that they have become aware of a bogus publication that claims Governor Ademola Adeleke has closed the Osun Job Centre and withheld the salaries of its employees for a year.
This is completely false; Governor Adeleke took over the Osun Job Centre that had been there before, and no government employee had their pay withheld during this administration’s worker-friendly policies.
It is important for the public to know that the aforementioned Job Centre was established in 2016, but that upon assuming office in 2018, former Governor Oyetola strategically closed it and gave the complex to Bosun Oyintiloye, who utilized it for civic engagement.
According to the records, the center in question did not get any funding from 2018 to 2022, and at one time, the rented flat served as the campaign headquarters for the outgoing governor.
Contract workers, most of whom were political activists, were involved at the center without complying with public service requirements, according to official documents.
Also redeployed were the few government employees stationed at the hub.
“Mr. Oyintiloye, who was serving as Special Adviser to Oyetola on Civic Engagement in the Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement at the time, was appeased by the Oyetola government by having the Centre attached to the Ministry of Information.
“During the previous administration, the location served as a platform for political campaigns.”
According to Alimi, the Adeleke administration is committed to helping locals find jobs and grow their businesses so that they may hire more people.
The government, he said, was hell-bent on making the state a better place for businesses to grow.
