In his message to the country’s soldiers, Peter Obi, the Labour Party, LP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has emphasized the importance of being determined to overcome the insecurity that the country is now facing.
Posting on his official X page, Obi made the call.
Those in charge of the nation should prioritize the health and happiness of the military and their families, he said.
I join the rest of Nigeria in honoring our brave servicemen and women who have given their lives protecting our nation on this Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
In particular, we honor the memory of our brave soldiers who gave their lives protecting our country’s sovereignty, unity, and peace. While extending our deepest sympathies to their grieving families, we commend and honor them for the brave acts they performed. Leaders, citizens, and the guardians of liberty, the armed forces, work together to construct great nations.
They leave the safety of their homes and the love of their families behind to bravely fight for our nation, and our history would be incomplete without them.
Our nation is fighting a terrible war against terrorism, violence, crime, and all forms of instability; in this trying time, we stand in solidarity with our military men and women and ask them not to lose heart, no matter how tired they are.
May the love, zeal, and courage they felt on this day reignite their fight for a Nigeria free of crime. As they selflessly serve our nation, may we, the leaders, see to it that our military personnel and their families are well-cared for.
