Alleged attacks on APC party members during the Bayelsa governor’s race have prompted a group to appeal to Tinubu and the IGP for help

New Generation Leaders of Bayelsa State, a pro-democracy organization, has spoken out against what it calls “continuous attacks” on All Progressives Congress, APC, stalwarts and sympathizers in the state.

Concerning attacks on supporters of APC guber candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, was raised in a statement released by the group’s National Coordinator, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei.

Kemepadei called the attacks a “senseless and callous strategy by the ruling party in the state,” saying that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had resorted to assaulting and manhandling law abiding supporters of the APC rather than canvassing for votes from the people.

“As APC supporters in Bayelsa State, we condemn in totality reports of sponsored political thugs dressed in full military uniform that attempted to invade Sylva’s LGA few days ago,” the statement adds.

If Mr. President does not intervene, more people will be harassed, intimidated, and attacked for their support of the APC, which is extremely condemnable and a severe attack on democracy. We’re being hunted like meat because we dared to speak up for President Tinubu.

Therefore, we demand that the President, IGP, and other security authorities take swift action to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.

“Collectively, we are keeping a careful eye on the attacks on APC members, and we have no doubt that they are linked to the APC’s growing popularity and unified support in the state. The President should take action to prevent more attacks on party members by ordering heightened security measures.
