Posted by Veteran defender Thiago Silva has been persuaded by former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf to leave the team at the end of the current campaign.
Even though Silva had another successful season for Chelsea and missed very few games because of injury, Leboeuf believes the team’s young central defenders should have more chances to establish themselves.
Fans like Silva’s leadership and experience, but Leboeuf feels that it’s time for him to step down and make room for the next generation.
Leboeuf said to BetVictor, “I don’t want to deny that Thiago Silva has been a fantastic player for Chelsea, but there is a time for everything to come to an end.”
“It’s time for him to go and for all of us to express our gratitude to him.
“I’m not even convinced they would have been better off with him in the team against Liverpool, as the club’s young defenders have shown that they are ready to play.
“Everyone has an end; Marcel Desailly had his time, I had mine, and John Terry did too.”
