Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has said that he has not given his approval for any retiring permanent secretary in the state to have their term extended.
The clarification was found in a statement acquired by DAILY POST on Saturday, which was signed by Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s spokeswoman.
The announcement comes in response to recent reports that some military members’ tenure may have been extended.
The governor added that in order to guarantee career advancement and job happiness for all employees, he is dedicated to solidifying ongoing civil service reforms.
“Reminding the public that Governor Adeleke initiated the reforms that guaranteed proper placement of high-ranking officials, many of whom had given up on ever reaching the peak of their careers, resulted in the appointment of substantive Permanent Secretaries.”
The Governor is adamant on enforcing career advancement in the state public sector, hence there are no plans to extend tenure extensions for any retiring Permanent Secretaries.
“Any prior extension is intended to enhance the entrenchment of professionalism by consolidating the existing service reforms. Although the reform process takes more than a year, it is not a state policy, and the few exceptions are intended to strengthen the public service.
Additionally, Governor Adeleke asked public employees to carry out their regular responsibilities because the government would not make any decisions that would harm their ability to advance in their careers or serve the public interest.
