Gov. Alia encourages the people of Benue to back a new military operation by citing their safety concerns

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has asked citizens to back the state’s armed forces and other security personnel in their fight against crime and terrorism.

The announcement of the military operation “Exercise Enduring Peace III” took place on Tuesday in Tyodugh, Guma Local Government Area, when Alia made her plea.

The Governor demanded that citizens help the agents out by giving them relevant information.

Alis has faith that the military exercise, along with the work of other security authorities, will help rid the state of criminal groups.

He lauded the armed forces and other security agencies for their dedication and the many ways they have helped the State and the country.

Earlier, Brigadier General Al-Amin Rabiu, Commander of the 401st Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, challenged the troops with professionalism in the performance of their responsibilities.

According to him, the drill, which is based on current information about the state’s security situation, would continue until January 5, 2024.

The 401st Special Forces Brigade and paramilitary soldiers from different commands across Benue State would perform the exercise together, according to Maj.-Gen. Hilary Nzan, Commander, Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa State.

According to the DAILY POST, “Exercise Enduring Peace III” is a cooperative security exercise designed to combat issues including farmer-herder clashes, livestock rustling, and banditry plaguing the state.
