Government of Yobe confirms attack on Geidam village

The village of Ngurokayya in Geidam Local authorities Area has been attacked, according to the authorities of Yobe State.

Special Adviser to Governor Buni on Security Matters Brig Gen Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd) delivered the confirmation on Wednesday while addressing newsmen about the outcome of an emergency security meeting presided over by the governor.

Some attacks have occurred in the Geidam Local Government Area, it’s true. The insurgents’ strikes resulted in casualties because they were directed at easy targets.

On the other hand, “the Yobe State Government, as part of its responsibility to ensure the security and safety of the citizenry, convened this meeting today and all the burning issues were discussed,” he stated.

The special adviser dismissed as rumors reports that Boko Haram insurgents are collecting levies and taxes from communities along the Geidam axis.

“The concept of insurgents collecting taxes or levies still remains in the domain of rumour mongering, since so far we have not seen anybody who has claimed I have paid a specific amount as levy, tax, or ransom.

The council, he claims, has ordered security forces in the state to redouble their efforts and dominate the territory, particularly in the Geidam Local Government territory, so that criminals have no room to operate and abuse the inhabitants of the state.
