Heartland’s players are receiving half of their salary till further notice as a result of the team’s devastating loss to Plateau United on Wednesday.

The former winners of the Nigeria Premier Football League were defeated by Plateau United 5-1 on Wednesday at the Awka City Stadium.

The Naze Millionaires are now bottom in the NPFL standings and will have to work hard to stay in the elite division.

Promise Nwachukwu, general manager of Heartland, made a suggestion that if the players don’t improve, they would face additional penalties.

Nwachukwu informed the team’s media, “The club management has decided to slash the players’ salaries by half as of now henceforth until the team’s performance improves.”

“After yesterday’s game, I was firmly rooted to one spot and left the stadium last because I could not have predicted the subpar performance the players gave against Plateau United.” They pretended that there was no stake and that they were lacking in ideas as they played.

The next NPFL matchup between Heartland and Sunshine Stars is on Sunday.
