After the commissioning of new Government House in Umuahia, garment factory, and General Hospital in Aba on Saturday, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State will commission some other projects in the state today.
Some of the projects billed for commissioning are Umuihe Cottage Hospital in Isiala Ngwa South LGA and internal roads inside Abia State University, Umuahia campus. Others are the remodelled A-Line section of Ariaria International Market, Aba, and Faulks Road, also in Aba.
In his speech yesterday, after commissioning the new Government House and other projects, Governor Ikpeazu tasked successive administrations in the state with sustaining the projects for the good of the people.
The new Government House, which was started by the past administration of Theodore Orji, was completed by Governor Ikpeazu, with governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State present as special guests.
Meanwhile, indigenes of Okwuta Ibeku, Nkata Ibeku, and Ndume Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA have expressed their happiness about the relocation of Abia’s seat of power to their area.
One of the indigenes, Onyeka Simon, said the relocation of the Government House, State Secretariat, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and other government offices has further appreciated the values of their lands and also helped the economic growth of their communities.
