A facility for the state’s aging population is in the works, according to Pastor Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom State.

In his New Year nationwide broadcast on Monday, January 1, 2024, Eno announced this and added that the center will have a library, supermarkets, and a hospital, among other facilities that would be useful to them.

In recognition of their incalculable previous contributions to the state’s growth, the governor stressed the need of tending to them while they are still living.

We have finalized plans to construct a center for our state’s senior folks,” he said. For the benefit of our aging population, this complex will include a medical facility, a library, grocery stores, and other amenities.

I think it’s important to honor our ancestors while they’re here and provide for their basic needs because of all they’ve done to help our state grow and prosper.

In the ikot ekpene LGA, we have also planned the construction of an international market. Our young entrepreneurs, who frequently have to travel far to get their raw materials, will benefit from this market because it will lower their manufacturing costs and increase economic activity in our state. We’re dedicated to getting this project started in the first half of the year.

As part of his comprehensive seven-month performance review, Governor Eno revealed that he has ordered an operational audit of the Ibom Power Plant.

The goal, he said, was to relocate the vital facility so that the people of Akwa Ibom could reap the benefits they had hoped for.

“Our believers are adamant that our state’s entrepreneurs can thrive with sufficient power, and our economy will reap the benefits,” Eno remarked.

The governor extended his gratitude to the legislature and the judiciary for their unwavering support in aligning their efforts and bringing democracy’s benefits to the people. He urged them to continue lending their assistance.
