Intensify efforts to surpass your previous achievements – Oyo traders tell Makinde

Traders in Oyo State have enjoined Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify efforts to surpass his previous achievements in the first term during the next term which begin in May this year.

The traders made this disclosure on Sunday.

DAILY POST recalls that Makinde, who re-contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was on Sunday, March 19 this year, declared winner of the gubernatorial election held on Saturday, March 18.

The election was conducted in all the 33 local government areas of the state.

Makinde scored a total of 563,756 votes to defeat all other candidates.

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin scored 256,685 votes while Accord candidate, Adebayo Adelabu scored a total of 38,357 votes during the election.

The traders in the state have however enjoined the governor to allow himself to be guided.

The traders maintained that Makinde’s re-election is an act of God and a result of his outstanding achievements.

The Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh, described Makinde’s re-election as a fulfilment of the will of God and also a confirmation that people of Oyo State are appreciative of his commitment towards leading the state to a greater height.

Jimoh in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, advised Makinde to intensify efforts to surpass his previous achievements during his second term in office.

Jimoh in the congratulatory message to rejoice with the governor said, “Your victory at the polls is a fulfilment of the will of God and also a confirmation that people of Oyo State are appreciative of your commitment towards leading the state to a greater height.

“We believe your second term will turn Oyo State to a reference point for other states in Nigeria, especially in the following sectors, security, agriculture, education, health, transport and tourism.

“We therefore advise that you intensify efforts to surpass your previous achievement.”
