156 Hajj spots were fraudulently sold by former employees of the Kano Pilgrims Welfare Agency, and the state administration has vowed to vigorously punish those responsible.

The National Hajj Commission had given Kano 6, 144 places, but Muhammad Abba Danbatta, the agency’s official, sold extra Hajj seats to 156 intended pilgrims.

Laminu Rabiu, the agency’s director general, revealed it on Wednesday.

He claims that Kano State has been given 6,144. When I returned to work after being named Director General, I discovered that the previous Secretary had sold every seat. I couldn’t find any open seats.

“Moreo, he had oversold the tickets by roughly 156, which means that even after making all payments and all the conditions, [those impacted] will not be able to conduct the Hajj.

After they may have told everyone they were going on the trip, it is really quite painful to take their money and disappoint them.

We have begged them to be patient and promised them that they will be among the first to be taken into account the next year, he continued. There have already been 2,558 successful airlifts to the Holy Land.

After the Hajj, we will look into the situation to make sure that anyone found to have broken the law will be dealt with appropriately.

The National Hajj Commission will be allocating planes to the state in the coming days, the agency is waiting in the meantime.
