Kwara’s chief police officer has warned criminals to expect a harsh punishment

The police chief of Kwara State, Victor Olaiya, has promised to crack down on crime.

This determination was communicated by him while addressing in Ilorin, the state capital, at a high-level security summit attended by stakeholders and community leaders.

Victor urged the Bororo and Fulani to report on the illegal actions of their kin in their villages, particularly abduction, at the summit, which discussed topics relating to peace and security across the state.

He claimed that if this were done, criminals from other states would think twice before settling in Kwara State.

The police chief also advised the leaders of the Miyetti Allah and Gaa Allah communities, as well as the district heads of their respective villages, to return home and preach the lesson of peaceful coexistence to their constituents.

Kidnappings and farmer-herder conflicts are serious problems in the state, and solutions were discussed at length.

The majority of summit participants agreed that nomadic herders are responsible for the majority of damage to farmlands, while farmers’ accusation of resident Fulani for such crimes frequently leads to crises of confidence between the two groups.
Measures to prevent crimes committed by members of cults were also considered and approved.
