Manchester United shocked by Benzema’s January move

The striker Karim Benzema of Al-Ittihad is reportedly being pursued by Manchester United this month in an effort to bring him back to Europe.

Last June, Benzema signed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club, reportedly valued at £86 million each season, ending his fourteen-year tenure with Real Madrid.

The 36-year-old has made 20 appearances in the Middle East and scored 12 goals, but he has started to face some issues in Saudi Arabia.

Benzema was absent from last Friday’s preseason opener for Al-Ittihad.

As a result, he missed out on the weekend trip to Dubai with the rest of the squad.

The future of Benzema is uncertain as head coach Marcelo Gallardo has instructed the player not to link up with his teammates.

United, a Premier League club, is hoping to hear back from the former Ballon d’Or winner and other clubs about a possible return to Europe in the near future.
