More than 2,168 reformed Boko Haram members have completed the government’s programme

The De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) program in Gombe State has successfully rehabilitated approximately 2,168 former Boko Haram militants.

Thursday, during a courtesy visit by the Borno Deputy Governor, Dr. Usman Kadafur, Col. Abiodun Johnson, the Commandant of the DRR Camp, Operation Safe Corridor, made this announcement.

Johnson claims they went through a plethora of programs designed to help them recover, including medical checkups, therapy for mental health issues, spiritual guidance, drug rehabilitation, and exposure to western teaching methods.

Clients, he added, learned carpentry, cap knitting, shoemaking, tailoring, and electrification during the course of the six-month program.

He detailed the three stages of the program as follows: initial documentation; initial medical test; intelligence profiling; NIMC profiling; biometrics and capture; and finally, farming as a mandatory trade for all customers in the camp.
