Nigerian employees don’t need a wage of N200,000 per month, according to Ogunyoyinbo

Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the NNPP’s gubernatorial candidate in the most recent general elections in Ogun State, claimed that a salary of N200,000 per month is not excessively high.

Recall that the TUC advocated N200,000 as the national minimum wage for workers at its meeting with the Presidential Committee last Sunday.

Oguntoyinbo, who made the claim in a statement published on Wednesday and made accessible to DAILY POST, proclaimed support for the TUC proposal.

According to him, everything has increased in price, including the cost of food and transportation, which is why the minimum wage needs to be raised.

He explained that if the minimum salary drops below N200,000, the typical worker in the nation will suffocate.

He also gave advice to the federal government, which is headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on how to wisely spend the money that had been diverted from subsidies on infrastructure improvements to promote economic development and growth in the nation.

Oguntoyinbo encouraged the federal government to also provide inexpensive housing for workers because the cost of housing is no longer within the reach of the typical worker in the nation.

“The minimum salary should be raised from N30,000 to N200,000 because the subsidy on petroleum goods has been eliminated. The minimum wage should be raised from N30,000 to N200,000 as a result of the elimination of subsidies on petroleum goods.

“Subsidy is enough to create a monorail, schools, hospitals, roads, and other infrastructure and social amenities instead of allowing a select few people to keep the money in their pockets. Because of this, I oppose subsidies, given that they can be wisely used to build infrastructure.

“Productivity will suffer if there are poor roads, no electricity, and other infrastructural problems. Our nation’s spending dilemma is that we prioritize recurrent above capital.
