The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization, has given its verdict on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the Buhari government failed in the areas of security, corruption, and economy.

Isiguzoro said the ethnic polarization under Buhari’s administration had set Nigeria 100 years backward.

In a statement he signed, Isiguzoro said: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has considered the outgoing APC led Federal Government as a failure in areas of Security, Corruption and Economy, and Ndigbo has come out with the verdict that Nigerians were disgruntled with Buhari’s administration in the areas of insecurity escalation, fight against corruption, and Nigeria was divided along ethnic and religious lines which had set Nigeria 100 years backwards and it has become more herculean tasks for the incoming administration.

“APC government came in 2015, with high hopes that there will be an improved security of lives and properties and fight against corruption, within 8years of Buhari’s administration, the insecurity challenges escalated from 3 Northeast States to 33 States across the country, and nepotism with favoritism aggravated corruption, and the consequences of it was that the country was split up across Ethnic and religious lines, the economic administrators of President Buhari was horrifying.

“Nigeria had seen its worst era in decades, and this led to recession twice as Nigerians could not cope with the hikes of prices of essential commodities and worst-case scenario was the replacement of Old Naira notes without the CBN creating facilitative processes of cushioning the hardships associated with the scarcity of Naira notes.”

Isiguzoro also said the Southeast experienced infrastructural changes under Buhari’s administration.

He noted that Buhari’s legacies in the Southeast remained monumental and historic.

Isiguzoro further urged Buhari to sign off by ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

He added: “Ndigbo also witnessed revolutionary changes in the infrastructural development in the southeast, irrespective of sidelining the southeast in political appointments against the principles of Federal Character and short changing in distribution of public amenities, President Buhari’s legacies to Southeast remains monumental and historic.

“There was evidence of Infrastructural development across the southeast more than the 16 years of PDP, Buhari’s completion of 2nd Niger Bridge, upgraded the facilities of Akanu ibiam Airport Enugu to International standard, assisted Ebonyi Government in the realization of Abakiliki airport, granting free trade zone to the ongoing Enyimba Economic City project, reopening of Onitsha dry sea port that remained closed for 46 years, and improved condition of federal roads in the southeast.

“Ndigbo regretted the non realization of the railways rehabilitation and deep sea projects that was realized in other geo political zones.

“President Buhari should sign off on the right side of history by releasing political and prisoners of conscience detainees, especially Nnamdi Kanu.”
