Osun: 19,000 retirees enrolled in health insurance, eligible for reduced-cost medical care

The Osun State administration has decided to enroll about 19,000 retirees in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), which will provide them with access to state-subsidized medical care.

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of the state, has issued an order mandating that all pensioners in the state sign up for the program.

On Thursday, just before the quarterly meeting of OHIS management and accredited Health Care Providers, Dr. Rasak Akindele, the OHIS Executive Secretary, made the announcement.

Dr. Akindele announced the registration process for the 19,000 recipients at the meeting, which took place in the Osun State Government Secretariat in Osogbo.

In addition, he informed them that Governor Adeleke will personally hand over their enrollment certificates afterward.

All state pensioners must be enrolled in the scheme under the governor’s directive. They all turned out in great numbers to the polls and should be rewarded for their participation.

They have earned the right to good health at that age, having served the state for that long, and it is not even remuneration to give it to them.

At a party honoring his first year in office, the governor plans to hand out identification cards to all attendees. In every part of Osun State, we have access to top-notch medical facilities. There will be a total of 19,000 people helped.

Akindele said, “We need to have feedback from them” regarding the meeting’s outcome with healthcare providers. How can we help them with the issues they’re facing? Because they claim that where there is no law, there can’t be crimes.

We can work together to find solutions if we have a shared understanding of the issues. We now have the legal means to punish any future violations.
