As the tenth Assembly’s inauguration takes place today, there are numerous security personnel present at the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Numerous police and civil defense personnel were stationed in key areas of the assembly facility in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The assembly’s sacred chamber is already occupied by the 26 newly elected members and other invited visitors for the crucial meeting.

As members elect a new Speaker today, it was seen that security personnel had been placed on the grounds to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.

Olakunle Oluomo, the outgoing Speaker who replaced him in 2019, is reportedly in a heated debate with Oludaisi Elemide, according to twiscoloaded.

Elemide insisted that he will compete for the seat alongside Oluomo this time around, refusing to repeat what he did in 2019.

A candidate must receive at least 14 of the possible 26 votes to win the position of Speaker of the Ogun Assembly.
