Residents of Wurna village in Kurfi Local Government Area, Katsina State, barricaded the Katsina-Dutsinma route with bonfires on Friday in response to several bandit attacks in the area.

Due to the protest, some vehicles were forced to detour along bush paths that connected Dutsinma to other regions of the state, leaving numerous travelers stranded.

As of the time of publication, twiscoloaded’s attempts to get in touch with ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, for a response on the development have been unsuccessful.

Nevertheless, a villager who went by the name Abdulkarim told The Nation that the last four days had been marked by constant bandit raids, leaving the populace in a constant state of turmoil.

In order to prevent a breakdown of law and order and to restore normalcy to the region, security personnel are currently on the scene.

More to come.
