The administration of Abia State has formed a new task force for the Aba zone of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), with strict instructions to refrain from extortion and intimidation of the general public.
While inaugurating the new task force in Aba, Okezie Ezengwa, the ASEPA deputy general manager in charge of the Aba zone, issued a warning to its members not to do anything that could damage the state’s reputation.
Ezenwa argued that the task force should not make false accusations because they are not responsible for punishing persons who break sanitation laws.
He stressed the importance of conducting themselves in a dignified, respectful, and forceful manner befitting their status as established government officials and not as street peddlers.
Ezengwa insisted that Aba needed to be cleaned up so that commerce could take place in the kind of orderly fashion befitting a commercial hub.
The coordinator of ASEPA’s Aba zonal taskforce, Azode Chukwuma, recently addressed the state government on behalf of his team, thanking them for entrusting them with this important responsibility and promising to uphold the agency’s regulations at all times.
