Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, has expressed her sorrow at the passing of well-known Nollywood actor John Okafor, also referred to as Mr. Ibu.

The minister called the incident “one death too many” in a statement sent through her Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze.

Musawa stated that this occurred just a day after Sisi Quadri, another Nollywood star, passed away.

“I’m stunned beyond belief that there are too many deaths taking place at once. Throughout his acting career, Mr. Ibu became well-known and brought joy to many families.

“We in the entertainment industry are all very saddened by his passing at this time. It is very unfortunate.”

“He will be much missed. “May his soul find peace,” she uttered.

On Saturday, Mr. Emeka Rollas, National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, announced Mr. Ibu’s death.

It was reported that the 62-year-old experienced a heart attack.
