Reject leadership imposition – Former Lawmaker, Anohu to members elect

A former member of the House of Representatives in the 8th Assembly, Emeka Anohu has implored the members-elect to take their destinies into their hands by ensuring that they elect the Speaker of their choice without interference of any sort.

He stated that when a Speaker emerges from amongst the members, it comes with the advantage of having a smooth-running legislature with decisions taken in the best interest of the Nigerian people.

He argued that the independence of the legislature can only be guaranteed if the leadership is elected by popular choice of members.

Anohu also implored the incoming members of the 10th Assembly to be vigilant and cautious in electing their leaders and not be deceived by politics and propaganda.

He also pleaded with the powers that be to allow the yearning of the members to prevail when the National Assembly is inaugurated in June.
