Under the auspices of the “Association of Nigerian Professionals in United Kingdom,” Nigerian professionals residing in the UK have urged president Bola Tinubu to develop measures and policies that would cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies on the people who are already suffering.

Additionally, they supported the President’s political decision to end the subsidy, which they viewed as a conduit for fraud being perpetuated by some criminal groups.

This was said in a statement made accessible to journalists on Sunday in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, and signed by the group’s coordinator, Comrade Innocent Udoidiong.

Udoidiong urged the federal government to keep developing people-centered policies and programs aimed at enhancing the lives of Nigerians in need.

Watching carefully, you would notice that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has started on a good note, showing that he did not just dabble in it, the statement reads. He prepared himself for the mantle in great detail. Right now, all we need to help him succeed is prayer and encouragement.

“We applaud President Tinubu for having the guts to abolish the offensive fuel subsidy policy, which had continued to serve as a conduit for fraud by some criminal groups.

“We also demand the swift adoption of policies designed to lessen the hardships brought on by the subsidy reduction policy for Nigerians. If subsidies are cut off to fight corruption, Nigerians shouldn’t have to suffer as a result. Something needs to be done, and it needs to be done immediately.

Comrade Udoidiong stated that the necessary sustainable growth and advancement of the country can only be catalyzed by well-coordinated economic policies and programs.

Udoidiong welcomed President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their election victory and inauguration, praising them as strategic leaders with extensive experience.

The group also praised the President for supporting Senators Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas in their bids to become the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively, while sticking to the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) zoning plan.
