The leader of the Senate has issued a warning to the PDP, the LP, and anyone else who would try to use the Supreme Court’s decision to further their own political agendas

Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has warned that the opposition parties’ use of disinformation, malinformation, and misinformation to try to drag the judiciary into partisan politics is dangerous.

In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, Bamidele, who led the 9th National Assembly’s Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, made the remarks.

He criticized the opposition parties for using the judiciary for political advantage, which he said went against Nigeria’s and Nigerians’ best interests as a whole.

Bamidele praised President Bola Tinubu’s recent victory at the Supreme Court but criticized the improper blackmailing of the court prior to the decisions on the petitions of the opposition parties and their candidates.

The judiciary, he said, “is one of the most consistent, dependable, and reliable democratic institutions that still stands for and with the oppressed in this federation.”

Bamidele argued that any political actor or party that chose to put the judiciary on trial in the media rather than following the law was acting immorally.

Petitioners have greatly benefited from the impartiality and independence of the judiciary at various points in our nation’s history, but they have never spoken ill of the judiciary.
