The PDP in Nasarawa State has asked its supporters to enjoy their triumph in court without violence

After their recent victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has asked their supporters to celebrate in a peaceful manner and refrain from any disruptive actions.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ibrahim Hamza, the party’s media secretary, asked its followers throughout all 13 local government areas of the State to rejoice in a responsible manner and without causing any disturbances.

According to Hamza, the party was confident it would win the election and has long anticipated to do so.

He emphasized, however, that party members and supporters should keep their cool and enjoy the triumph in a way that wouldn’t cause unnecessary disruptions in the state.

The party has asked its members and supporters to hold their celebrations only at party headquarters and the governor’s candidate’s home, he said.

He praised the court for its meticulous work and highlighted that the decision was grounded in the merits of the case, not in procedural details.

“We want to commend the members of the Nasarawa State tribunal for the painstaking attention to details, and the decision that was arrived at based on the merit of the case,” the PDP spokesman said.

David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP was declared the winner of the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023, by a tribunal led by Justic Ajayi.

This contradicts the first results announced by INEC, which showed that Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had won the election.
