Yola police seize vehicle believed to be transporting criminals, find charms and daggers

A vehicle carrying three suspected criminals was stopped in Yola city by officers from the Adamawa State Police Command stationed at the Yolde Pate Divisional Headquarters.

According to a statement released on Monday by Suleiman Nguroje, the state’s police public relations officer, operatives stopped a car with the license plate number GME 2354 AE while out on a confidence-building patrol along Yola-Yadim Road.

According to Nguroje, there were three people in the car when it was intercepted.

When confronted with a security check, the driver sped up and tried to go through it as quickly as possible, but he was eventually forced to pull over. The suspects “immediately got out of the car and evaded capture,” the police said.

Police further claimed that a search of the recovered vehicle turned up two daggers, a chain, a padlock, and various charms that were “suspected to have been used in perpetrating kidnapping activities.”

According to the announcement, CP Afolabi Babatola, the state’s commissioner of police, has guaranteed that no criminal in the state will ever evade capture.

Members of the public were requested by the CP to provide timely information that could lead to the capture of the evading culprits.
