Billy Sharp, a former Sheffield United player, has cautioned that Aaron Ramsdale, who was benched by manager Mikel Arteta during the current January transfer window, may seek a new club.
David Raya has replaced Arteta as Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper, and Ramsdale has been promoted to the role of cup tournament goalie.
Having been Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper last year, the Englishman has started nine games this season, including three shutouts.
But his present situation with the Gunners casts doubt on his future.
But Sharp, who played alongside Ramsdale at Sheffield United, offered some advice about the goalie’s predicament.
“It is one of them,” he informed talkSPORT. This is football, and it can become nasty. Raya may have been their first choice for a signing before Ramsdale. They were able to capture Rammers instead of him.
This is inevitable whenever there are two goalkeepers vying for the starting job. Ramsdale is a top-tier goalie, so I doubt Arsenal will let him leave, even though he may desire to.
