Alleged Accounts Freezing: Thoughtless move to ground governance, instigate unrest – Abia govt

The Abia State Government says its attention has been drawn to a “contrived and careless Court Exparte Order” purporting to shut down the government through the freezing of all its accounts in various financial institutions.

The government described the attempt as a thoughtless move by misfits to ground the government and instigate civil unrest in Abia State.

It also warned that no arm of government had a lawful right to ground the other for any reason whatsoever.

This is contained in a statement issued on behalf of the State Government by Chikamnayo Eze, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, in Umuahia, on Sunday.

Eze stated that a newly elected Governor should know that he was elected for four years and couldn’t interfere in the administration of an incumbent.

He disclosed that plans were being hatched to harass, humiliate and destroy Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and the faithful of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.

The statement further revealed that information available to the Government indicated that there were more “thoughtless and illegal moves” being hatched to shut down the Government of Abia State using what it described as a “kangaroo, jankara Judgement” manufactured in far away Abuja.

It partly read: “The attention of the Abia State Government and indeed all peace-loving Abians has been drawn to a mischievous, contrived and careless Court Exparte Order purporting to shut down the Government of Abia State through the freezing of all its accounts in various financial institutions.

“This thoughtless move by misfits ostensibly acting a mendacious script written by a cowardly cacophony of overzealous political turncoats is aimed at grounding the Government and in so doing instigate civil unrest in Abia State.

“The ongoing unintelligent and unprecedented mishap of shutting down the Government of Abia State using a kangaroo, jankara judgement, manufactured in far away Abuja in the Okon Abang style is a clear signal of the mindset of desperados. Unfortunately, information available to the government indicates that more of such thoughtless, illegal moves are in the offing.”
