As violence escalates, SDP points fingers at the head of a police unit, Kogi Guber

The State Head of the Police Quick Response Team has been accused by the Social Development Party (SDP) of assisting the actions of political thugs, prompting the SDP to request an investigation by the Inspector General of Police.

According to Col. Suleiman Babanawa, chairman of the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, who spoke at a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday, the officer in charge of the Quick Response Team allegedly followed some political thugs to Ajaka, located in the Igalamela Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State House, in order to cause mayhem among SDP supporters.

After being dissatisfied with the actions of some police officers, Babanawa pleaded with the Inspector General of Police to discipline the officer in question.

According to the former military officer, an officer from the Kogi State Police Quick Response Unit met his end after he and his gang (alleged political thugs) were overpowered by supporters of SDP in the Ajaka community.

He explained that his group’s supporters and property were attacked and destroyed after political thugs had stormed the Ajaka neighborhood.

Thankfully, our supporters were able to overcome theirs. The citizens of Kogi State apprehended a suspect who was revealed to be a current police officer with the Quick Response Unit (QRU).

He quickly pleaded with the mob, explaining that he was a police officer following orders from his superior.

In our opinion, the CP is an honest and trustworthy individual. The few bad apples shouldn’t ruin his reputation, therefore he needs to be careful. Investigations on the QRT’s actions in Kogi should be conducted by the IGP.

Some rotten apples in the command have been sent to Kogi East, and we are well aware of their diabolical plot.

Security forces, whose job it is to keep the public safe, have been seen on camera threatening and harassing members of the public.

We want the world to know what is happening in Kogi State.

Along with Hajia Mariam Salifu, women Leader of SDP, Deputy Governorship Candidate Sam Abenemi condemned the attacks on party members and called on the Federal Government led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that security agencies maintained absolute discipline in carrying out their duties.

Meanwhile, following a political fight in the state’s eastern region, the Kogi State Police Command has began looking into a viral video in which a police officer is seen lying in a pool of his own blood.

SP William Ovye Aya, the PPRO (Police Public Relations Officer), made the announcement to TWISCOLOADED on Thursday.

The officer was not identified by name, but a police official said the suspect is currently in their custody after being moved to Lokoja.

We’re looking into what happened the day before. Police will brief the media once they get all the facts, he said.

Meanwhile, information has emerged suggesting that the involved police officer was doing his duties illegally.
