Chelsea’s Kante will skip the World Cup

N’Golo Kante, a midfielder for Chelsea, will miss the next three months of action due to a hamstring injury, which will prevent him from competing in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Kante, who had just recently regained fitness after suffering an injury in Chelsea’s 2-2 Premier League match with Tottenham Hotspur in August, experienced his most recent injury in training this week.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter provided an update on Kante’s injury, calling it “not good news.”

Prior to Chelsea’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday, Potter stated this in his pre-game press conference on Friday.

He has an appointment with a consultant this weekend.

It is a setback, but at this point I’m at a loss for words, said Potter.

“It’s a setback at this stage of the rehab, which is frightening, but all we can do is get the proper diagnosis, get the right counsel, and try to help him get back to full health and enjoy his football,” said the doctor.

The France international won’t likely return to the field until the following year, per The Athletic.
