A small fire broke out at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s refinery in Warri Delta State, the company has acknowledged.
In a statement released on Friday, the business blamed ongoing welding work at the cooling tower’s peak for the outbreak.
Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC) has reported a minor fire incident in the cooling tower at around 15:02 hours today.
“The refinery rehabilitation project delivery timeline will not be impacted by the fire that happened as a result of continuous welding activity at the top of the cooling tower.
Normal operations at the refinery have resumed after “immediate action” by NNPC Limited safety officers extinguished the fire at around 15:30hrs.
NNPC also promised that it would maintain its commitment to rigorous safety measures across all of its operations.
