Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has offered his deepest sympathies to the families of those lost in the tragic accident involving the KTSTA, the state’s official transportation vehicle.

In a statement released in Katsina on Saturday, Malam Ibrahim Kaula, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), expressed condolences.

A KTSTA bus with 18 passengers was engaged in the incident that happened on Friday, he said. The bus was traveling from their office in Kankara Local Government Area, LGA, to Abuja.

He went on to say that the accident was caused by the Kaduna/Abuja highway’s ongoing maintenance.

Contractors placed heavy machinery in close proximity to the location during the building work, which caused the traffic to be diverted and unintentionally contributed to the terrible tragedy.

His statement read: “Regrettably, seven lives were lost at the scene of the accident,” including two youngsters and the bus driver.

The people of the state and the families of the deceased are in Radda’s thoughts and prayers during this time of great sorrow.

I ask Allah SWT to grant the souls of the departed Jannatul Firdaus and to comfort them on behalf of the whole state.

“The state government is fully dedicated to protecting its residents and will make every effort to avoid similar devastating events in the future,” Radda vowed.

In light of the current crisis, the governor has further called on the citizens of the state to rally behind one another.
