House member passes away three days after becoming office

A PDP member from the Chikun Constituency, Madami Garba Madami, has passed away. He was a member of the Kaduna House of Assembly.

He passed away early on Saturday at a Kaduna hospital where he was receiving care.

On June 13, 2023, the members of the 10th State Assembly were sworn in, however the deceased member was ill and was unable to attend.

According to a statement released on Saturday in Kaduna by Governor Uba Sani’s chief press secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the Governor was shocked to learn of his passing.

According to the report, the Governor expressed his condolences to Madami’s immediate family and the residents of the Chikun Constituency after learning of his passing. He noted that the politician was well-known for encouraging peaceful coexistence and was held in high regard.

The governor prayed to God to comfort Madami’s family, friends, colleagues, and citizens who were left behind as well as to grant his soul eternal peace.

“During his lifetime, Madami served as member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, representing the Chikun Constituency; chairman of the Chikun Local Government Area; commissioner for planning and budget; and special adviser political to late governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa,” the statement read.
