Reverend Fr. Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue State, has urged Nigerians to take care of their countrymen who served in the military.
At Sunday’s interdenominational ceremony at the Chapel of Grace, Government House Makurdi, he presided over the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which was co-sponsored by the state government and the Benue State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
According to him, the only way for individuals who have sacrificed so much to protect our nation to move past the painful memories of their service is to ensure that their basic needs are met.
Saying that the remainder of the country’s residents are safe because of the bravery and sacrifices of the fallen cops, Governor Alia asked for prayers for their families.
According to him, the purpose of Armed Forces Remembrance Day is to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our nation’s military personnel and the unfaltering faith they have shown in protecting the nation.
In remembrance of the martyrs, he urged the people to seize the day and work toward national and regional harmony.
The Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day is deeply meaningful to the people of Nigeria, according to Bishop Wilfred Anagbe, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Yiman Orkwagh, Archbishop of All Nations Evangelism Ministry. They emphasized that the day serves as a poignant reminder of the selfless sacrifices made by the armed forces.
