In anticipation of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the state’s governorship election, the Bauchi State Police Command has dispersed its forces across key areas of the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governor Bala Mohammed and the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) flag bearer, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar, were involved in a gubernatorial election petition judgment, and the police issued a warning against any type of celebration or rally by supporters of either party.

This was revealed in a statement that Superintendent Ahmed Wakili, the command’s spokesperson, made accessible to journalists on Friday.

The statement claims that Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders have all been instructed by Commissioner Auwal Musa Muhammad to increase confidence-building patrols, prevent attacks on civilians, and punish those who break the rules.

In a statement, the Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Command warned the public that rallies and celebrations on Friday, January 12, 2023, between supporters of the ruling party, Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, and the opposition party, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar, should not violate the rights of others, regardless of whether the party is victorious or loser in the Gubernatorial Election Petition judgment from the Supreme Court.

“Furthermore, the jubilant followers must behave in accordance with the rules of the law; it is not acceptable to block highways, set off fireworks, or make statements that incite violence or blackmail the other side.

“Whoever violates this order or knowingly causes the breakdown of law and order will face decisive action from the Command.”

That “those in violation will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law as security agencies have been deployed strategically and directed to ensure full enforcement” was further asserted.
