Life-changing multibillion dollar industry: Afrobeats, according to Davido

Over the course of his 12-year reign at the top, Nigerian afrobeats musician David Adeleke, nicknamed Davido, has thought about how the genre has changed.

The ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ singer claimed that the African music scene then, when he began, and now are not the same.

He mentioned how the afrobeats industry went from being underfunded to being worth billions of dollars.

The first issue of the Native Now Magazine was covered by Davido.

Afrobeats musicians, according to him, are now improving lives and communities in addition to earning millions of dollars.

“Afrobeats is different now and then; it’s a multi-billion dollar industry,” he remarked.

“You can’t contrast that with earlier times when we were merely playing about.

“We were earning a lot of money and making amazing music, but now people are transforming lives and communities.”
