Makinde hears from former council bosses: “Pay us through our counsel.”

Those who were fired by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019—including chairmen and councillors of local governments—have asked him, via their lawyers, to pay them what is rightfully theirs.

These ex-council leaders made the announcement on Friday.

According to HEALTHYSPOT101, Makinde recently accused the past chairmen and councillors of local governments of diverting his administration.

Since the governor has refused to pay their benefits, the former council bosses have lost no less than 27 members.

According to information acquired by HEALTHYSPOT101, the former council heads are still owed a total of N4.8 billion by the state government.

In a statement that was made accessible to HEALTHYSPOT101 on Friday, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, who acted as spokesman for the former council chiefs, emphasized that the entitlements should be paid through their lawyer.

While addressing, Abass-Aleshinloye brought attention to the fact that, as the court has recognized, the lawyer possesses the authority to obtain the entitlements on their behalf.

“Lastly, the governor has all the information at his disposal if he truly wants to pay his debt, which he must pay,” he stated.

“The Governor is aware that the payment must be made into our solicitor’s account in accordance with our (Forum 68) ex-ALGON resolution and a positive court order given with the permission of His Excellency counsel.

It has been documented that N1.5 billion was transferred to our account from the client account of our former solicitors, Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) & Co., even though a court order was not necessary.

As a result, the money should be sent to our lawyer, who has the legal authority to receive payments on our behalf, according to the court. We will not budge.
